If I had to recommend one luxury resort in Napa Valley, Stanly Ranch would be it.
Set on a breathtaking 712-acre working ranch just outside Napa, every aspect of my stay was impeccable. It’s easily one of my top ten favorite properties I’ve stayed at in the United States.
Stanly Ranch is part of Auberge Resorts Collection, one of my favorite luxury hotel brands. With three Auberge properties in Napa Valley, this is my personal favorite. It strikes the perfect balance between relaxed luxury, exceptional food, beautiful wellness facilities, and authentic wine country charm.
If you’re planning a California getaway, I’d pair Stanly Ranch with Edgewood Tahoe Resort. Together they offer two unforgettable luxury experiences surrounded by incredible natural beauty.

What stood out about Stanly Ranch was that it lacked nothing.
From the moment we arrived, I felt myself slow down. Surrounded by fragrant lavender, beautifully landscaped gardens, vineyards, and cozy gathering spaces, it was impossible not to relax.
The service was impeccable. The food at Bear was so good that we kept finding reasons to eat on property, and every meal celebrated the incredible local ingredients Napa Valley is known for.
I also loved how the resort is laid out. The adults-only Halehouse spa pool is tucked above the main resort with beautiful vineyard views, while the restaurant and main gathering areas sit below. Another level down is the family pool, creating separate spaces for adults and families without either feeling like an afterthought.
We enjoyed the property so much that we actually canceled a few planned wine tastings because we simply didn’t want to leave. That has never happened to me before in Napa Valley.

We already had everything we wanted right there: incredible food, beautiful scenery, a peaceful adults-only spa pool where someone always seemed to appear with another drink or snack, and cozy places to simply sit and enjoy the moment. Quite honestly, it was simply too dreamy to give up for yet another wine tasting.
Looking back, canceling those wine tastings is probably the highest compliment I could give this resort.

The accommodations perfectly match the relaxed feel of the resort. Cottage-style rooms and residences feature oversized bathrooms with soaking tubs, furnished outdoor terraces, and thoughtful wellness touches. Many also include outdoor showers and private fire pits.
One of my favorite details was our fire pit. Every evening we’d pour a glass of Napa Cabernet, roast s’mores, talk about the day, and finish the evening with a nightcap. It became one of my favorite parts of the trip.
Halehouse is much more than a traditional hotel spa. In addition to beautiful treatment rooms, guests have access to an adults-only spa pool, hydrotherapy facilities, a large fitness center, and daily wellness and movement classes. As three adults traveling together, we’d happily return just for the Halehouse experience alone.

One of the biggest surprises was how well Stanly Ranch works for families while still feeling like a luxury escape for adults.
The large family pool, expansive lawn, nightly s’mores, and thoughtful touches—like the toy trucks outside the café—make children feel just as welcome as adults.
The working ranch is woven throughout the experience. Guests can visit the chicken coop, explore the chef’s garden that supplies the restaurants, and enjoy seasonal harvest dinners celebrating Napa’s local farms, chefs, and wineries.
I also loved that Auberge regularly brings local vintners to the resort for tastings, making it easy to experience Napa wines without spending every hour driving from winery to winery.

Luxury resorts are easy to find.
Luxury resorts that make you cancel your plans because you simply don’t want to leave are much harder to find.
Stanly Ranch checked every box for me. Incredible food. Impeccable service. Beautiful accommodations. A world-class wellness experience. And an atmosphere that made me want to slow down and simply enjoy where I was.
It’s the first hotel I’ve stayed at in Napa Valley where I genuinely can’t wait to go back.
One tip before you book: Stanly Ranch is one of those properties where booking through the right travel advisor really does make a difference. Through our preferred partner relationship, our clients receive daily breakfast for two, a resort credit, potential room upgrades (subject to availability), and other VIP amenities.
Breakfast at Bear quickly became one of my favorite meals of the day, so I was especially happy to see our breakfast charges and resort credit removed from our bill at checkout. It’s one of those little extras that makes an already exceptional stay even better.
