Entry Requirements by Country

Below is the list of countries open to Americans. We work closely with these destinations to ensure they're ready to accept our clients. Please note entry requirements change regularly and you should contact our office for the most up-to-date information.

UNITED STATES

Americans may travel freely within the USA but some states may require COVID testing or quarantining to enter. We constantly monitor these requirements as well as local state restrictions to inform and prepare our clients for travel. AFRICA & MIDDLE EAST

  • UAE: Open to Americans and Canadians with restrictions. Abu Dhabi no longer requires a PCR test to enter via road, so day trips are possible again for all fully vaccinated travelers coming from Dubai. Only vaccinated travelers will have access to establishments (such as restaurants).

  • Israel: Open to fully vaccinated US and Canadian citizens. Travelers must have been vaccinated within the last 6 months prior to travel, with either a recognized vaccine or a booster shot. Travelers also require proof of vaccination, a negative Covid-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to arrival, a completed health declaration and permissions form within 24 hours prior to arrival. A Covid-19 PCR test must be taken upon arrival at Ben Gurion Airport (Kensington Tours highly recommends booking this test in advance). Travelers must isolate at their first hotel for 24 hours or until a negative result is returned (whichever comes first). Arrivals allowed at Ben Gurion Airport only as land borders are closed.

  • Ethiopia: All travelers over 12 are required to present a negative covid-19 PCR test within 5 days before departure. This does not apply to travelers transiting through the airport for up to 72 hours. All international travelers, other than those in transit, are subject to a 7-day self-quarantine (previously 14 days) at designated hotels at their own expense.

  • Egypt: Negative Covid-19 PCR test taken within 96 hrs before departure of final flight to Egypt. All travelers must also show proof of health insurance.

  • Ghana: Negative Covid-19 PCR test required within 72 hours of scheduled departure from origin and a second PCR test upon arrival (paid locally) with results in 30 minutes.

  • Jordan: Open to Americans and Canadians with restrictions. A negative PCR is required, taken within 72 hours prior to travel. On arrival, passengers must undergo a COVID-19 PCR test. Passengers must also have health insurance covering COVID-19 treatment for the entire period of their trip. Curfew days and hours extended till May 15th.

  • Oman: Borders are now closed to foreign travelers until further notice.

  • Kenya: Passengers are permitted to enter with a negative PCR-based Covid-19 test conducted up to 96 hours before arrival. Passengers need to complete a form on the plane.

  • Morocco: Open to fully vaccinated with proof of negative pre-departure COVID-19 test results. Mandatory rapid Antigen test and random PCR testing will be carried out upon arrival.

  • Mozambique: Negative PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to boarding the plane. Screening and Health Questionnaire on arrival.

  • Namibia: Negative Covid-19 PCR test taken within 7-days prior to check-in for the flight. On arrival travelers will go through a health screening and will also need to complete a short health questionnaire.

  • Seychelles: Open to all (except from South Africa). Requires a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to flight.

  • South Africa: Borders open. Negative Covid-19 PCR test certificate within 72 hours of departure from country of origin is compulsory (72 hours begins from the publishing of the certificate). All travelers are required to fill out an online health questionnaire no less than 2 days prior to departure. Screening and health questionnaire to be completed upon arrival. Curfew is currently in effect from 11:00pm-5:00am daily.

  • Tanzania: Open to international travel, Mt Kilimanjaro open with precautions. All travelers whose countries or airlines require them to get tested for Covid-19 as a condition for traveling, will be required to present a negative test certificate on arrival. Must complete a Traveler's Surveillance form.

  • Uganda: Open to all Americans and Canadians with restrictions. However, travelers from the U.S. and Canada are advised to travel only when fully vaccinated. Vaccinated travelers are now also required to take a test upon arrival and quarantine until results are received (typically, under 12 hours). Curfew is in effect from 9pm to 6am daily.

  • Zambia: Open to Americans and Canadians with restrictions. Land border has reopened to fully vaccinated travelers. A negative PCR test is still required for entry. Arriving: Negative Covid-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours of arrival. Screening and health questionnaire upon arrival. Departing: Negative Covid-19 PCR Test taken within last 14 days within country

ASIA & THE PACIFIC

  • Maldives: Open to Americans and Canadians with restrictions. Inter-island travel restrictions have eased slightly, so travelers can now book multi-resort itineraries (split stays). Negative PCR certificate (taken within 96 hours prior to the scheduled time of departure). Submit Traveler Health Declaration (THD) within 24 hours prior to travel (electronically via http://imuga.immigration.gov.mv). No exceptions for vaccinated travelers. Some resorts also perform rapid test upon check-in.

  • Sri Lanka: Recommended for fully-vaccinated Americans and Canadians. Fully-vaccinated travelers no longer need a PCR test upon arrival. Hotels that were deemed Level 1 are now moving out of this level, which means most hotels will now accept only fully-vaccinated guests. It will also be increasingly difficult to find chauffeur guides for those who are unvaccinated. Also open to non-vaccinated travelers with much stricter requirements/restrictions. Unvaccinated travelers must provide proof of a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of boarding your flight. A second PCR test must be taken 5-7 days after arrival. A third PCR test must be taken 10-14 days after arrival.

MEXICO & THE CARIBBEAN

  • Barbados: Open to vaccinated travelers only. Passengers must provide a negative PCR test taken within 3 days prior to travel, take a second PCR test upon arrival, and use designated transportation to their approved accommodation. Quarantine time for vaccinated travelers has been reduced to 1-2 days, during which they are free to move around in accordance with the guidelines of the approved property. Curfew 9:00pm-5:00am daily.

  • Antigua: Open to Americans and Canadians. Travelers require a negative PCR test taken within 7 days of their flight. Must sign a quarantine form, committing to remain on the property except for certified tours and restaurants. Bars reopened as of May 19, 2021 but curfew is still in effect.

  • Grenada: Open to fully vaccinated travelers as of May 1, 2021. Travelers must apply for travel authorization and provide proof of a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to travel. Travelers must also take a PCR test upon arrival and quarantine for 48 hours at an approved accommodation until they receive a negative test result.

  • Mexico (Los Cabos): No testing requirements in effect.

  • Turks & Caicos: All travelers must have a negative Covid-19 PCR test result taken within 5 days of arrival in the TCI. Passengers must obtain pre-authorization via the TCI Assured portal. Curfew currently in effect on all islands (until June 30, 2021): 11:00pm-5:00am, businesses must close at 10:00pm, restaurants open with 30% capacity.

  • The Bahamas: Open to Americans and Canadians with restrictions. As of August 6, 2021, all travelers aged 2 and older are required to upload a negative PCR test taken within 5 days of arrival to the Bahamas. All unvaccinated travelers require an Antigen test on Day 4 of their stay. Curfew in place: 10:00 pm-5:00 am on Nassau and Paradise Island, Grand Bahamas, Eleuthera (Harbour Island, Spanish Wells), Exuma. Restaurants on Paradise Island and Nassau are open for outdoor dining and closed on Sundays.

LATIN AMERICA

  • Bolivia: Negative PCR test taken within 7 days prior to arrival in Bolivia.

  • Brazil: Entry only allowed by air (restricted land or sea entry). Requires a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to boarding and two copies of a Health Declaration before boarding. Accompanied Children under the age of twelve are exempt from test.

  • Colombia: Negative Covid-19 PCR test required for entry (as of Jan. 12th), taken within 96 hours of plane departure to Colombia. Air Canada has suspended all flights to Bogota until April 30, 2021 for Canadians.

  • Costa Rica: No Covid-19 test required. Proof of medical insurance is required along with completed online Health Pass Form 48-hours prior to travel to Costa Rica.

  • Ecuador: Proof of negative PCR or Antigen test taken within 3 days of airplane departure is required for non-vaccinated travelers. Effective March 22, no test is needed at arrival for fully vaccinated travelers carrying their vaccination card. Antigen rapid tests can be performed on a random basis to passengers arriving into Quito or Guayaquil. Starting July 1, 2021, vaccinated travelers no longer require a negative COVID-19 test to enter Galapagos. Non-vaccinated travelers continue to require a negative COVID-19 PCR or Antigen test taken within 72 hours prior to arrival in Galapagos (aged 2 years and above).

  • Guatemala: Open to Americans and Canadians with restrictions. Fully vaccinated travelers can enter Guatemala without a negative COVID-19 test. They must have their vaccination card with them and have received their second dose of the vaccine at least two weeks prior to arrival. Negative Covid-19 PCR test (or negative Antigen [nasal] test) required for entry, taken within 72 hours of plane departure to Guatemala. Testing is available at Guatemala City Airport upon arrival (paid locally). Passengers are required to fill out a Health Pass Covid-19 Form.

  • Peru: Open to Americans and Canadians with restrictions. Open to Americans and Canadians with restrictions. For all travelers aged 12 years and up, proof of a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to plane departure is required. All travelers aged under 12 years, require a certificate of good health from a doctor.. Face shields are no longer required on planes and at airports. The Arequipa region is also now out of full lockdown.

  • Panama: Open to Canadians and Americans with restrictions. Negative Covid-19 PCR test (or negative Antigen [nasal] test) required for entry, taken within 72 hours of arrival to Panama. Testing is available at Panama City Airport upon arrival (takes 30 minutes, paid locally).

EUROPE

  • Spain: Open to Americans without any restrictions, however, Canadian travelers still require proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test.

  • Albania: PCR test is not required to enter the country.

  • Croatia: Open to fully vaccinated travelers. Travelers must provide a certificate confirming they have been vaccinated with two doses (or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine). The second dose must have been received more than 14 days prior to arrival. Unvaccinated travelers must provide a negative PCR test taken within 48 hours of arrival. Those staying for more than 10 days must repeat the test once during their stay. Children under the age of seven can cross the border without restrictions. Other required documents include Calvados Club voucher, Confirmation Latter, Enter Croatia Submission form, and (if possible) a reply from uzg.covid@mup.hr.

  • Georgia: Open to all vaccinated travelers arriving by air (with vaccine certificate confirming receipt of two full doses). Also open to non-vaccinated US citizens arriving by air (with a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to arrival. Also requires non-vaccinated travelers to take a follow-up PCR test on day 3 of their stay, at traveler's expense).

  • Iceland: Open to all vaccinated travelers only. Travelers require a vaccination certificate and an antibody certificate. If vaccinated parents (or parents that previously had COVID-19) are with children who are not vaccinated, the children do not have to quarantine, however, they will have to take a test on arrival. All arriving passengers must pre-register and must undergo one COVID-19 screening. While waiting for screening results, instructions for quarantine must be followed (results typically arrive within the day).

  • Montenegro: Negative PCR test is required for entry, taken within 72 hours prior. Nationwide curfew in place from 9:00pm to 5:00am.

  • Turkey: Open to Americans and Canadians with restrictions. Restaurants are expected to open for sit-down service as of June1, 2021

  • Slovenia: Open to fully vaccinated travelers. Curfew has lifted and some shops are open, however, the country is still under Red Tier restrictions until further notice.

  • Italy: Open to Americans and Canadians with restrictions. A Green Pass (and equivalent pass from the U.S.) is required for entry into Italy; and is mandatory to enter hotels, museums, indoor restaurants, theatres, cinemas, etc.

  • Austria: Open to Americans and Canadians with restrictions. Travelers must show proof of vaccination and provide a negative PCR test result taken within 72 hours prior to arrival; or a negative Antigen test result taken within 48 hours prior to arrival. Currently, vaccinations administered 360 days after the second dose are considered valid (previously, it was 270 days) – this also applies to booster shots.

  • Netherlands: Open to Canadians and fully-vaccinated Americans with restrictions. U.S. travelers require proof of full vaccination, and a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 48 hours of departure from their originating destination; or an Antigen test taken within 24 hours of departure from their originating destination.

  • Portugal: Open to Americans and Canadians with restrictions. Portugal has ended the requirement for a digital certificate or a negative test for access to restaurants; Portugal has also ended timetable restrictions, as well as capacity limits. Portugal’s bars and clubs have reopened. However, it is mandatory to present an EU COVID-19 Digital Certificate for major cultural/sporting events, health facilities, bars, and clubs.

  • Sweden: Open to fully vaccinated US and Canadian citizens. Canadian travelers require proof of vaccination, a negative Covid-19 test (can be PCR or Antigen) taken within 72 hours prior to entry, and proof of residency. American travelers require proof of vaccination.

  • Scotland: Open to all travelers with no pre-arrival test required. All travelers, regardless of their vaccination status, must complete the Public Health Passenger Locator Form no more than 48 hours prior to their arrival. The form requires the booking reference number of a Covid-19 test the traveler must take on day two after arrival.

Additional Notes:

  • Bhutan: Borders closed to tourism until further notice.

  • Estonia: Borders closed to tourism for US and Canadian citizens until further notice.

  • Greenland: Borders closed to tourism for US and Canadian citizens until further notice.

  • Tibet: Borders closed to tourism until further notice.

  • Tahiti: Temporarily closed borders to tourism until further notice.

Important Note for Returning U.S. and Canadian Passengers:

  • U.S.: All American passengers over the age of 2 years must provide one of the following before boarding their flight back into the U.S.

    • A negative COVID-19 test result (PCR or Antigen) taken within 3-days prior to boarding.

    • Documentation of having recovered from COVID-19 and approved to travel by a doctor.
       

  • Canada: All Canadian passengers over the age of 5 years must provide a negative COVID-19 test result (PCR or LAMP) taken within 72-hours prior to boarding their flight into Canada. Returning passengers will also be tested for COVID-19 on arrival and will be required to stay in a designated hotel for 3 nights at their own expense until the test result is obtained. Those testing positive will be required to quarantine in a designated government facility for 14 days. Those testing negative will be required to quarantine for 14 days at their own accommodation. Travelers with no adequate place to quarantine will be required to quarantine at a designated facility.
