EVERYTHING YOU NEED KNOW ABOUT ADAPTERS AND CONVERTERS FOR YOUR ELECTRONICS.
First you will need to understand the difference between an adapter and a converter. An adapter will enable the plugs of your electronics to fit into foreign outlets, while a converter changes the voltage found in the outlets to match your device.
You will need to bring an adapter, depending on where you are heading. If you will be visiting multiple countries that use different outlets, or if you frequently travel internationally, your best bet is to purchase an all-in-one travel adapter or adapter set.
Most modern electronics are dual or multi-voltage, however some older model irons and hair dryers will require a converter as well. Check the labels on your electronics and appliances for their specific voltage requirements. If your item is labeled as “Single Voltage” (i.e. 100-120V), you will need a converter. You may want to consider whether you need to bring the item with you. Most hotel rooms are equipped with an iron and a hair dryer, so you may be better off leaving those single voltage appliances at home.
